The Classroom Aesthetic: Chalkboards & Whiteboards

Sometimes the best way to explain a concept is to write it on a board. We’ve added two new board styles to our blog: Whiteboard and Chalkboard.

1. The Whiteboard

The whiteboard style is clean, modern, and uses marker-like colors. It’s perfect for diagrams and brainstorming.

Brainstorming Session

  • Idea 1: Use AI for good.
  • Idea 2: Make learning fun.
  • Idea 3: Take over the world. (Maybe later)

We can highlight important text with a yellow marker or circle key concepts like Innovation .

2. The Chalkboard

The chalkboard style brings a classic, academic feel. It uses a dark textured background and chalk-like fonts.

Physics 101

Today we are learning about Gravity.

F=Gm1m2r2F = G \frac{m_1 m_2}{r^2}

Note that G is the gravitational constant.

Gravity pulls things down!

3. Annotations

We have a full set of hand-drawn annotations that work on both boards (and anywhere else!).

Checks & Lines

  • Green Check
  • Blue Check
  • Underlined Text
  • Strikethrough

Highlights & Circles

  • Pink Highlight
  • Blue Highlight
  • Red Circle
  • Yellow Circle

4. Math on the Board

Combining our StyledMath component with the Board component creates a truly immersive experience.

Let’s solve for xx:

x=b±b24ac2ax = \frac{-b \pm \sqrt{b^2 - 4ac}}{2a}

Don’t forget the quadratic formula!

Usage

Wrap your content in a <Board> component and use the annotation components freely.

<Board type="chalkboard">
  # Hello Class!
  <ScribbleLine color="white">Welcome</ScribbleLine> to the lesson.
</Board>

Class dismissed!
